Hi everyone! Make sure to check back for frequent updates! I could always use more help, given the size of the project. If you're interested in joining, contact me via PM!

This project seems a bit ambitious, don't you say? I mean, if you know how to make world maps, hud icons, sprites, and music then I guess this could work. As for porting it into NSMBU, that will be a pain. Having to recreate the same levels on NSMBU seems like a tedious process. I will say that porting is a good idea, but not for such a large hack. But if you can pull it off then much respect to you.

You should also give more information on the project. How large is it exactly? Are you recruiting? Images on current progress?

I have someone changing HUD icons (who could also make World Maps), and I'm working on how to modify sprites. Music is definitely something I'll need some assistance with. I'm also looking for level designers. I don't really have images to share, as I want to get all/most of the concepts done first, due to the size of the project. The exact size, by the way, is something I want to keep secret.
It's bigger than Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii, though.

As for porting, I'm willing to port as much as I can by myself.

As for certain stuff that was nerSMW specific, like custom world maps, you should just wait for Newer U to release their tools (specifically, their world map engine)

If you have coding experience, then sure, give it a go. I can't do shit for NSMBU due to lack of interest, but you have my blessing.

You do realise that they are doing a 3D world engiene, right?

It isn't like Newer SMBW

Waiting for Newer U to release their tools is what I plan on doing. As for anyone who wants to help in terms of levels, music, tilesets, etc., you should contact me via PM here, as RVLution is down currently.

You do realise that they are doing a 3D world engiene, right?

Eh, I'll worry about it when I need to.

That doesn't change a factor in anything I said.

Uhh, yeah it does. If they're really making full 3D maps, then they most likely will be made with 3DS Max or something similar. So yeah, map making will probably be a thing of the past
unless you know how to make 3D models

That's the easy part. You then need to move paths around using the magic of coding, but this is very difficult from my understanding.

Thought I'd share one new gameplay element that will be introduced in this project.

Block switches! (Also, image of Red Block Switch not final.)

All Block Switches are activated by coming into contact with them, and can cause a great variety of things to happen. Some, however, require certain conditions for activation...

Sounds cool, but I warn you that will be hard to make.

I could assist you in this project once Freezeflame is finished.

What are your current abilities in C++? Writing sprites requires quite a good understanding of it, along with an understanding of Nintendo's/the Newer Team's NSMBW API. You'll likely also need to be able to RE game functions that you want your sprites to use or inherit from.

Be practical people. Apply a new tileset, and use "If" Events and Locations.

What are your current abilities in C++?

I have no knowledge in C++.

Hello everyone!

I am currently working on a project for NSMBWii that will include new levels, World Maps, HUD icons, and sprites (and other stuff), and hopefully new music and tilesets.
In order to make sprites, you're going to need to know some C++. You're claiming that this mod will be larger than Newer Wii, which is quite a standard to live up to. It won't be done for many years; maybe in your free time right now you can work on learning C++.

Uh, no. You can't make a world map happen by putting a bunch of models in a folder. We are indeed going to need an engine.

Another thing: it takes ASM to create an entirely new sprite. You can, however, replace some of Newer's sprites with your code (i.e., replace all of the ShyGuys code with rex code).

But I believe there is a limitation that can be summed up with an analogy:
You have a cake, but you want to change it to something else and still make it taste good and sell. You can change it to any form of cake or flavor, but you can't change it into a sandwich.

Now replace the cake with a sprite, and have it to where you are changing the sprite to something else. The sprite you are replacing it with has to have some similarities, and can't be changed to something random (i.e., a Switch).

I know someone who may be willing to help, though I haven't asked them yet so writing that was a bit of a mistake. Sorry. (Though Fruit Smasher has offered...)
