Scientists are furiously storing their data on other servers and Trump has requested personal information from the researchers. You know when it's going to get bad when your own scientists are scared of you.
Technically, a VPS is already your own server, except that you can't touch it physically, and you can freely upgrade and downgrade it (well, with additional costs, but I guess you'll get the deal now). _________________________

Ah, I wasn't sure if Staple was using a shared hosting, VPS or dedicated server. _________________________
Yes, it could also have been a dedicated server, but I can recall Staple mentioned he had a VPS on IRC, a few years ago.
Besides, hiring a dedicated server is way to expensive for a totally free community to be worth it. _________________________
and K64 itself would be fine even on shared hosting, if it weren't for thinks like KuriBot. a dedicated server isn't worth the trouble.
a home server would be another deal entirely, and hell, could be a fun adventure. it'd require a decent computer to leave on at all times, and I'm not sure my ISP would appreciate it. _________________________
Not too sure the electric bill would appreciate it either, lol. I've lately been considering running a home server since I don't really get much activity to really 'need' a paid server, and free hosting is awful (if one works fast and has features, it usually comes with a lot of issues like corrupting special characters and the like). Though I'd rather make a home server for something like Kaillera than a website. _________________________
A server dedicated to a website only has a use when you already have a existent, useful website with much data on.
Sorry Jamie, but in my opinion none of your websites would be worth it, or actually need it.
I actually said in my posts, that I'd more likely use a VPS or home server to host something like a Kaillera server for online netplay on emulators, than anything else. In fact, I already have EmuLinker set up and port forwarded correctly on my laptop, but would rather dedicate a single machine to it so people could play games on a UK server (most Kaillera servers are based in the US or in other parts of Europe, only a few seem to be from the UK) _________________________
